Learn How To Blog: Tips and Steps

Wednesday, September 30, 2009 12:56 AM

How to blog seems like a redundant proposal especially if you are already blogging. No matter what your niche is if you want more readers and more cash flow you have to learn how to blog.

Blogging is not just about writing. Blogging is an experience.

1. Read.
Don't just read about blogging. Read stories rather than how to's and business books. Magazine articles are great for quick ideas. The more you read the more you absorb and the easier writing and blogging will come to you.

Everything is inter-related. Isn't a blog meant to be read? If you are not reading how can you expect others to read what you write? It is not about writing it is about blogging. Blogging is an experience. Reading is where your experiences come from.

2. Self-promote.
Do not be afraid. Although cyber-land has us all freaked out about spamming let go and self promote. If you piss someone off, apologize later if you see fit. You should never have to apologize for promoting yourself.

3. Trial & Error.
What has worked for you and what hasn't? When you encountered a problem how did you get around it? People are notoriously lazy and don't want to take the first steps they want to read about others who do. Be an innovator or pioneer because those are the folks who get paid.

What were the steps you took? What happened? Was it good? How did you celebrate? Was it a disaster? How did you correct it?

Trial and error. The stuffs humans are made up of.

4. Read.
Did I mention you should be reading? Read lots of blogs and I don't mean only in your niche. Read what interests you. I don't care what the competition is doing, if I want to find out I'll go to a convention of sorts. Mainly I subscribe and read blogs that interest me. Some of them yes are marketing because that is my interest but not because I want to know what they are up to.

5. Research.
Oh no more reading. Yep. Reading and research should make up at least half of your blogging efforts. How long does it take you write a blog post and hit the publish button? The more research you do the better your content. Blogging and publishing will take about 10% of your time. Know what you are blogging about before you even open your platform for a post.

40 hours a wk. = 4 hours of blogging = 4 to 8 posts per week.
20 hours a wk. = 2 hours of blogging = 2 to 8 posts per week. (2 or 3 principle posts and the rest are quickies.)
10 hours a wk. =1 hour of blogging = 1 to 5 thought out posts because you read an awful lot and the blogging part was automatic.

You get the idea.

You are the expert here. Show people what you know. What did you research?

6. Read some more.
I'm not kidding you. You will have much better quality content if you step away from the keyboard right now and go read the newspaper or finish a book you started a few weeks ago.

I reserve my weekends for play and reading. SEO, blogging and all that can wait for Monday. Ok I lied. It is Saturday at 5 p.m. and it has taken me 15 minutes to write this post so far and as it is I don't think I am going to edit it.

This I will add I've been on Amazon, hit two libraries and four bookstores in the past 24 hours.

7. Learn SEO Basics.
You don't have to do your own SEO you can trade with someone who is better at it than you. The more you know about SEO the better because when it gets down to building your blogging business, you will know how and who to hire for the job. Learn the basics and when you get stuck or cannot comprehend anymore info or find the time to do it, call in an SEO person to do the leg work for you.

8. Do the work.
Read. Research. Read some more. Learn SEO. Promote and don't be afraid to do so no matter what anyone says to you or what you may think others think about you. What did you accomplish and how did you do it? What worked and what didn't? Who is doing it worse or better than you are?

Are you willing to do the work that it takes? You don't have to work hard, just work smart.

10% actual blogging.
20% promo.
70% reading and research.

Total post time: roughly 20 mins.

The Magic Of Building Traffic On Twitter

Thursday, August 6, 2009 5:01 AM

Since I heard about twitter, I’ve seen many people report about it's great help on sending tons of traffic to a web site. At first I don't believe it, but when I personally experienced the magic of building traffic thru twitter, I was amazed!

So if you're still not convinced about what Twitter can bring to your website, think, think, and think again. Most of the sites, Twitter is already delivering 1/3rd – 1/4th of its total traffic – those who have tried the power of Twitter that is.

Shoemoney gets a cool 1/3rd of his traffic from Twitter.

This blog gets a great 1/4th of its visitors from Twitter too, that is in fact a nice thing.

So if you haven’t yet tried the social networking site, "Twitter". You better check it out this time around.

And What can Twitter give your site? Simple. A Road Full of Traffic. :D

Basic Steps To Successful Blogging

Wednesday, July 29, 2009 1:31 AM

Last time, I wrote about Tips For Successful Blogging and how to generate a massive traffic on them. Now I will share some of my golden nuggets on the basic steps to successful blogging and how to monetize from them. Blogs can be very profitable and marketable, if done properly. You just need to grab the attention and trust of other people. In this blog, I'll write some of the most important measures for the success of your blog.

1) Where to begin?

Start your blog with a free blog hosting service like Blogger, Journal Home, etc... It allows the blogger to start blogging instantly without having any advance knowledge of scripts, hosting, or any programming languages.

2) Niche

A niche is also known as category. It is your blog targeted product, service, or topic.

3) Update Daily (nothing less)

Updating your blog is a must. Search engines, visitors, and subscribers of your blog love new content and news. It keeps your blog more interesting to readers. If you don't make new content your blog for days, weeks or months you'll lose visitors, and you'll surely lose earnings.

4) Traffic

Traffic means profit. Always remember, There are tons of ways to generate traffic. Paid advertising, free advertising, viral marketing, search engine marketing, RSS/XML feeds, and word-of-mouth are just some of the methods. For me, the best source of traffic is no other than search engines(Google). That's why I always optimize it with keyword-rich content and tags.

5) Track Your Blog
To track the number of visitors coming to your blog, you can use statcounter.com. Install (copy/paste) the code into the html of your blog template and start tracking your visitors. In that way, you'll know if your blog is growing or not.

6) Make Money
Once your blog has received tons of traffic and trust from other people, for me, it is the perfect timing about turning your traffic into profit. Contextual advertising is a great way to start earning on your blog. I suggest Google Adsense or Chitika, these are trusted advertising sites, their payout is usually based on a pay-per-click. This means that for ever click an ad receives the blog owner are paid a small percentage of the profits.

Keep in mind, there is no guarantee that your blog will become prominent or very famous. You should work hard to achieve tons of traffic and huge earnings. Making money online is not an overnight experience just like many people may think. Stay tune for more important measures in blogging. That's all for now. Wooot!

10 Ways To Make Money With Your Web Site And Blog Online

Friday, July 24, 2009 4:19 AM

Here are the ten ways to earn money with your website online.

1. First, Sign up for your own Google Adsense account. Place Google ads on your site/ blogs to earn. Google will display the most appropriate ads according to your content and base on your niche. Payments are based on every click on an ad. If you crack the code and secrets, you'll surely earn tons of $$$ thru google ads.

2. Second to my list, you can also sell ad space on your site/ blog. Banner and text ads are very effective in delivering money to your blog/ site. To generate more bucks, sell top placement or best exposure ads at a premium.

3. You can also charge a fee to access some pages of your site. A recuring fee is best. Visitors will pay for your site article if it's useful to them. Some of the possible contents are infos in forums, ebooks, programs, reports, etc...

4. Hire out pages on your site to other people. You could also give them away for free and make money by including your ads on the pages.

5. Selling own products or services also generate great income. They should be valuable to your visitors.

6. You can also sell other people's products and services and earn with it. This is what they call affiliate programs. The member will get a unique link to enable them to track their sales. Site owner can be paid in different ways, like per sale, per click or per sign-up.

7. Selling ads thru e-zine. Have visitors subscribe to the e-zine website right from your own website. The higher the number of subscribers you have the more you could charge.

8. Signing up to websites offering datafeed is also a great source of income online. In this field, you get paid a commission per sale.

9. If your site/ blog have a high Page Rank, you could also earn thru it! Site owner could auction off text links across your site.

10. Lastly, You could also create an RSS(Real Simple Syndication) feed with up to the minute content. If you have valuable information e.g. stock related news, finance, business charge a subscription fee.
